Nova Wins Health Value Award

Nova honored for clinical programs that produce improved health outcomes

Nova Healthcare Administrators, Inc. (Nova) was recently recognized with a 2024 Health Value Award from the Validation Institute in the Claims Processing/TPA/Audit category. The awards celebrate outstanding services, products and programs across more than 20 total categories spanning the health care industry. Winners were honored in May at The Healthcare Innovation Congress in Washington, DC. They include companies that have gone through the rigorous validation process conducted by Validation Institute or are peer and self-nominated and are determined by a panel of industry experts and advisors.

Nova is validated by the Validation Institute in the common chronic condition management category, affirming clinical protocols drive measurable improvements in health plan trend. Based on 2023 data, Nova’s plan participants had the lowest incidence of adverse events including admissions and emergency room visits for common chronic diseases (asthma, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension, COPD, and diabetes), among all entrants in the Claims Processing/TPA/Audit category, earning the Health Value Award. Nova’s admissions and emergency room visits are also below-average compared to a national benchmark. Nova has received validation through the Validation Institute since 2018.

“We are incredibly honored to receive the 2024 Health Value Award from the Validation Institute,” said Jim Walleshauser, president, Nova. “This recognition underscores the effectiveness of our approach in managing self-funded benefit plans, which feature programs aimed at improving health outcomes and managing costs for our clients and their members. Congratulations to our associates across medical management, care navigation, data analytics, and client services for contributing to our top-tier health outcomes in the industry.”

Nova creates a cost and risk management strategy tailored to our clients’ goals. Our approach includes analyzing medical, behavioral and pharmacy claims, plus operational observations, and clinical data. Using this data coupled with the expertise of our in-house medical management team, Nova works with clients to develop strategies that address preventive care, early detection of illness, improving treatment compliance and appropriateness of services.

“We are proud to recognize the terrific individuals, teams, and health care solution providers that deliver improved savings or better health outcomes,” said Linda Riddell, chief data scientist, Validation Institute.
