Each February, one Nova associate is honored with our prestigious Steward of the Year award

Each February, one Nova associate is honored with our prestigious Steward of the Year award. This annual award recognizes an associate who has gone above and beyond to embody our core values (Act with Passion, Work Together, Be Accountable and Build Trust), while contributing to the success of Nova and our High-Performing Team culture as we deliver innovative self-funded health benefit solutions to employers across the country.

The recipient of the 2024 Steward of the Year award, Nick Y., does all of that and more, according to his colleagues, who referred to him as a priceless asset to their team and the company. Nick, a data and reporting analyst, was nominated by his direct supervisor, manager of data and reporting DJ S., and a member of their extended team, senior project manager Liz T.

“The nominee is cheerful, gracious, encouraging, and fun to work with,” the Liz and DJ noted. “They always treat others with respect. A careful listener, they always welcome others’ input and points of view. In collaborative situations, they offer healthy debate, well thought-out possible solutions, and consideration of downstream impacts as well. This balance of positivity and professionalism - good work plus good fun - is exactly the type of culture Nova embodies.”

A registered nurse, Nick started his career at Nova in our medical management department. He has since held several roles, which may be why his expertise is often sought from many areas of the company. He’s described as solution-focused and customer service-focused. In a recent example, Nick worked with a cross-functional team to automate a complex set of stop-loss reports. His solution will significantly improve accuracy and efficiency.

“It was only thanks to this associate’s unique skillset, perspective and personality that Nova was able to achieve this notable milestone,” his nominators shared.

Nick is passionate about learning and applying new technologies to Nova and he is always willing to share his knowledge with others, leading by example and delivering quality work with humility.
